Following Amazon Deal, Whole Foods Begins Slashing Prices

On Monday, its first day as part of Amazon, organic grocery chain Whole Foods Market slashed prices on food items such as apples and avocados. Following the online retail giant’s finalizing of their purchase of Whole Foods, both companies said last week that they would selectively cut grocery prices starting, with further discounts in the works. In addition to cutting food prices, Amazon’s Echo and Echo Dot hands-free smart speakers have been seen for sale amid the colorful produce at Whole Foods locations in downtown Los Angeles at $99.99 and $44.99, respectively. Those gadgets currently sell for the same price on Amazon’s website.
